Hi Rachiano,
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
You said "I tried to only start the computer with that disk, but windows
won't start", are there any error messages be prompted? From the current
situation, it may be caused by the boot.ini. Can you remove the
unnecessary hardware and then try to boot to system? After that, I would
like you to check the content of the boot.ini. You may need to use the
bootcfg utility to repair it if there is any error.
Arcpath exists in the boot.ini file which used to guide the system to find
the bootable sector/partition to boot up the computer. For example:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003 for Small
Business Server" /fastdetect
For edit the boot.ini file, please refer to the following article.

If you correctly configure the SBS 2k3 server, the boot.ini should like
follow:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003 for Small
Business Server" /fastdetect
For understanding the boot.ini file, I would suggest you to refer to the

| Hi,
| I have a server running SBS2003.
| I had a hard drive crash and was running the server with one
| hard drive for a while.
| When I purchased another disk, I placed it in the server and created a
mirror.
| The mirror was created with the windows disk management tool.
| After testing I figured out that the mirror was not working, although
| everything was synchronized.
| I decided to break the mirror. So I did that.
| After I broke the mirror, and restarted the server, the new drive I
inserted
| became drive C.
| My old hard drive is assigned drive letter E.
| When I restart the server I get two options still:
| 1. Windows server 2003 for small business server
| 2. Boot mirror secondary duplex.
|
| When I start the server with option 1 and open disk management,
| I see that drive E is the (System) drive and drive C is (Healthy).
|
| When I start the server with option 2 and open disk management,
| I see that drive E is the (System) drive and that drive C is the
| (Boot) drive.
|
| I now only want to work with the Old disk (drive C). I tried to only
| start the computer with that disk, but windows won't start.
|
| All I want to do is start windows again with only the Old disk (drive C)
|
| Any help on that would be great.
| Thanks.
