License Management ... Client Setup

I need a little more help in understanding how Client Licensing works ...
and possibly some clarification of Microsoft's meaining of xx Clients.
I manage a small SBS 2003 installation, with 10 CALs.
There are currently 10 Clients defined.
There has never been more than 7 clients connected at any one time.
I need to add another Client ... and would like to sure that I am doing this
'right'.
Does the 10 CAL license limit the number of clients defined ... or connected
at any time?
Do I need to disable or remove one of the existing 10 clients before adding
a new one?
Can I simply add more clients and monitor the 'client connections'? ...
attempting to keep it at 10 or below.
Does the server simply refuse to allow the logon of an 11th client
connection? Or ... is there something that I need to do to ensure license
compliance?
Thanks
