HI Ovidiu,
I understand your issue should be you want retain your SBS 2k domain, but
you also want to move some user and install a Windows 2003 domain.
Please note that it is possible to access the SQL server on SBS 2000 domain
from another domain such as Windows 2003 domain. But the user profiles, if
you want to move it from one domain to another domain, you need to follow
the KB article below to manually move it:
314045 How to restore a user profile in Windows 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=314045
In this way, you do not need to change any things on the existed SBS 2000
domain, you can allow access to SQL for user in Windows 2003 domain. But
you need to reconfigure the setting for SQL server to allow external access
to this SQL server, please refer to the KB article for more information:
841249 How to configure Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) for use with SQL
Server
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=841249
For further concerns in SQL issue, we suggest you post in SQL public
newsgroup, as there you may have more good sharing in SQL fields. Thanks
for your understanding, if you have any further concerns, I am glad to help
you.
Best regards,
Charles Yang (MSFT)
