I'm trying to set up vpn on windows sbs2003. I'm wondering how I would keep my router enabled and use a tunnel to bypass it for remote users. I need to know how I would bypass my router that is between the server and the internet. Any help is appreciated.
You need to find the documentation for your router. The configuration will be different for different routers.
The router will probably have a web administration page, and there should be a link to 'port forwarding' or 'firewall rules' where you make the changes.
The basic VPN system is known as PPTP, and uses two kinds of connection. Any router should have a means to pass on these connections to a machine on the network. This forwarding will only occur for the VPN protocols, and the router should behave normally for all other types of connection. .
