SBS2003 requires validation from WIN98 Client

We had a guy from Sharp came around early this week to install a
photocopier/printer/scanner. Without my prior knowledge, he uses our domain
Host Name as the device name for the printer. This later create a "duplicate
name exist" prompt at every startup of client's PC.

Next day, another Sharp support guy came along, main purpose was to fix some
issue regarding my PC connectivity to the new Scanning/Printer. But after
trying for a while, he felt the need to create a record in the "domain
controller"" DNS settings and I allowed him to do so. I saw what he was
doing, but left for 5 mins to reset the printer, of which I have no idea what
he was doing. I regretted.

Later on, I decided to use network scan and found that the
device(Printer) name conflicts with our domain name. So I change the printer
device name to something else and it fix the "Duplicate name exist on the
network" problem.

I thought the problem was fixed, but when Win98 users log into the domain,
an error:

"No domain server was available to validate your password. You may not gain
access to some network resources".

In fact, this happens to every PC with the exception of WinXp since they
bypass the error message.

I did a DNS RESTART, Clear Cache and still it makes no improvements.

Somehow, I felt that the domain controller looses the users credentials and
need to ask each time a client's PC is restarted.

I appreciate if someone could point to me in the right direction to diagnose
the problem more effectively

best rgds,
Clifford

I wonder if you have encounter with this problem before or if you can point
me to the right direction to diagnose further, I'll be much appreciated.
