Error Message About Domain Controller

Everytime i try to log on from a client computer i get the error message that
Windows can't connect to the domain because the domain controller is down or
unavailable, or can't find the computer account. and then it tells me to try
again later or contact the system administrator which is me. Truthfully this
is my first job as a network administrator. I don't know why this error
message comes up. Can anybody help me figure these problems out.
