Les, you are undoubtedly a wonder.
the b) option worked straight off.
Actually the router is a 4 port switch which is itself linked to the 16 port
switch serving the remaining clients (including the server). I do have it
set to automaticaly select the ISP DNS servers rather than giving their
addesses
Anyway after frustrating 5 days, the team here say thanks to you, now they
can get on with their job, and I am already less crusty
