New Single NIC Problem

I have asked this earlier, but the only response was to ask further questions
and then ignore the answers, so here is the story.

Server has single NIC (second one to hand but not installed till this
problem is solved), plus a router. It has worked stably for several months.

Since Friday, and without maknig any changes I can still ping the any client
on our network by name or IP address but can only ping external addresses by
IP address. I can RWW inwards and access server and clients. We cannot use
IE, and our email is now being sent by reconfiguration of the pop and smtp
names to IP address

I have carried out the following tests

ipconfig /renew on the server returns
