Hi All,
I am having troubles with backup on a SBS 2003 system and its starting to
drive me insane. The story of it goes as below.
First NTBACKUP.EXE causes a BSOD, so we apply SP1 to fix it.
The server wont talk to the tape drive via the internal SCSI, so we have to
purchase a card.
NOW Volume Shadow Services wont run and therefore the backups wont run.
I am not new to IT but this is the most trouble I have ever experienced with
a server backup. I would have thought buying all IBM stuff and being a new
build it would go smooth as.
Anyways, this time when we run a backup, it stops at Preparing to backup
using shadow copy. This fails and the below is in the log:
Backup Status
Operation: Backup
Active backup destination: 4mm DDS
Media name: "Media created 22/07/2005 at 15:41"
Volume shadow copy creation: Attempt 1.
Timeout before function completed
Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:0xffffffff.
Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:ffffffff
Aborting Backup.
----------------------
The operation did not successfully complete.
We also get errors:
ID 8194 about unexpected error querying IVssWriter Callback Interface 8007000e
ID 12302 inconsistency contacting shadow copy service writers
I have run the vssadmin list writers command, but it lists nothing at all..
I dont know if thats a good or bad thing.
Anyways, I have been trying to solve this for a while now but cant find
anything that sounds promising.
If anyone can suggest anything to fix this I would appreciate your input.
Cheers
.
