Raid 0 (Mirroring) - Help?

I am trying to setup raid 0 on my sbs 2003 box and it is not working.
I have a Dell 600SC with 2 gig ram and SP 1 installed.
It has two hard drives each on their own controller.
HD 1 is on its own channel (primary) and is set to master. It has a "C"
partition of 24.41 gig and a "D" partition of 50.8 gig
HD 2 is on its own channel (secondary) and is also set to master and has no
volume
Both drives are set to dynamic
When I select the "C" drive and the "Add Mirror" option it marks off a
mirror section on HD 2 and begins to sync. This usually continues until it
is around 30 % complete and then quits with no message at all, and the mirror
does not work.
The only thing that happens is that a yellow caution sign is displayed on
the "C" drive and I have to select "Reactivate Volume" to get rid of it.
I have tried several different combinations with the drives and get the same
result each and every time. I am currently running backups every night, but
really want to have the added stability of a drive mirror on my system. Can
anyone help me figure out why the mirror is not working?
Thanks,
-Todd
