It resolves to 192.168.1.3, but no replies.

Yes.

Additional Info - I can access companyweb through https in this manner

https://192.168.1.3:444

When I do so however I get a warning telling me that "the name on the
security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site"

When I click Details I can see that this certificate is issued to
blackvelvet.webculture.dynalias.net. This is a dynamic DNS I will use to
access the SBS instance.

I am assuming that I am getting this error because I am accessing the server
by IP instead of "*.webculture.dynalias.net"

ALSO when I accept the warning, I then get prompted for a password (!!)
shouldn't A/D already have me authenticated? Could this be the problem
somehow?

Thanks for help!
