Hi,
Thanks for posting here!
I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!
For your description, I understand that the restore task hangs when restore
data from tape. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Please follow my suggestion to perform some tests to isolate the issue:
1. Please try to run NtBackup.exe to restore by input "ntbackup" (no
quotation included) in command prompt to launch ntbackup. How about the
result?
2. Please run NTBackup to backup and restore some files to a local hard
drive partition and check whether it succeeds.
3. What is your tape detail brand? Many issues caused by incompatible
hardware. For checking the hardware Compatible List at Microsoft website:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx.
4. Did you encounter any errors when you backup the OS?
5. Does the issue happen always or random? Have you applied any hotfixes on
the SBS server?
5. If there's any error info appears in 1, 2 , please make screen shots for
the error info or the long time hung status and send them to
v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for research. Additionally please collect the
following info and add them all to a zip file to send to me:
Info 1: Save a text copy of the related error event log:
A. Open Event Viewer: Start -> All Programs -> Administrative Tools ->
Event Viewer.
B. Right-click on Application log or System log and select "Save Log File
As?".
Info 2: The Backupxx.log files in the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\SBS
Backup User\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows
NT\NTBackup\data".
[Note] Before reproduce the problem, please open NTBACKUP, click
"Tools"->"Options" and then check "Detailed" on the "Backup Log" tab. Then
reproduce this issue and send the backup log to me (Tools->Report).
Info 3: The Sbsbackuplog0x.log files which can be located under the folder
"%sbsprogramdir%\Support\Backup Logs".
Have a nice day!
Best Regards,
Jenny Wu
