Thanks for the suggestion - I think I may have it solved now, all fingers
crossed.

Ran auto system restore which failed right at the end with The recovery
application "ntbackup recover /1/sifpath = c:\windows\repair\asrsif returned
an error code 0x2" Since this indicates an unrecoverable error, ASR cannot
continue on this machine

I now had a server I could boot into but was very poorly.

Next step was from picking up info on the Smallbizserver.net web site, was
to F8 on boot and boot into Directory Services Restore Mode and once in
system to run Retore the C drive and Sys state from daily back-up tape.
Reboot but DNS/DHCP probs so again did restore but just wins and dns folders.

Now seems to be fine just doing last round of checks , I hope going on
holiday tomorrow so hope so.
