Re: Folder Redirection over a slow WAN

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your reply.

To effectively implement Windows Small Business Server 2003 in an
environment that connects one site to another using a slow link, one way is
to install Windows Server 2003 at the remote site, and then configure it as
a replica domain controller. This enables Active Directory directory
service information to replicate at the remote site, so that authentication
requests do not have to travel over the slow data link. Also, using Outlook
2003 in Cached Exchange mode minimizes the amount of e-mail traffic between
remote clients and the server.

As I know, the replication depends on replication schedule you have
configured actually.

In addition, regarding the group policy, you can also enable the Group
Policy slow link detection to limit to apply group policy for the branch
office. You can do as following:

1. On Group Policy Object Editor, expand User Configuration |
Administrative Templates | System | Group Policy.
2. Double click Group Policy slow link detection to configure it.

In addition, I also provide the following documents for your reference:

| Crina,
|
| Thank you for replying. I am now wondering if I have enough bandwidth to
set
| up bidirectional replication so users from the main office can have their
| documents available to them at the branches through Folder Redirection or
| Roaming Profiles? If I understand replication correctly, it is possible
| that a change to a document by a user at the main location may not be
| immediately available at the branch depending on the replication schedule?
