FYI - Recover Deleted Items Problem Solved

Hi All,

I posted an issue whereby the "Recover Deleted Items" issue was not working.
Merv Porter helped me narrow it down to the fact that the issue only occured
when cached exchange mode was enabled.
As a short term fix I disabled cached exchange mode and continued
troubleshooting.

I thought this may be of some help should anyone ever have the same problem.

The issue was caused by a group policy setting which is part of the Office
2003 / Outlook 2003 ADMS.
The specific Setting which has caused this issue (In our case) was the
setting Found in Policy>User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Microsoft
Outlook 2003>Other>"Empty Deleted Items Folder" (With the policy enabled and
the "Empty the Deleted Items folder Upon Exiting" checkbox checked).
By Turning this feature off "Recover Deleted Items" works fine.

This was a bit annoying as our plan was to force users to sort their mail
instead of keeping 2000+ odd items in their deleted items folder, giving them
the option to recover deleted items if they needed to.
Our plan worked up until the point someone wanted recover a deleted item.

He He He.......That's life.

So for now we just stick to standing behind our 50 odd staff with a baseball
bat that says sort baby sort.

Regards
Steve
