Work with a COPY - use Ghost to create it.
Boot the system in Directory Restore mode.
Not done it that often... but on 2 ocassions I had to I was able to
get the system to work just fine.
My Server in both cases used totaly different motherboards
But I ALWAYS use 3COM Network cards (or Intel if customer asks for it)
Did have to RE-REGISTER with MS
Personally, I find that a REAL xxxxing pain since this is often when I've
got OTHER things
like getting the sodding server working - I can do without it.
Someone suggested Novell sbs a while back and I got a Dealer to supply me
the disks for
their 5 user FREE version.... I can take a fully installed Server from box
to box at will
usually the only thing that need reconfiguring is the NW cards (if they are
different)
(if you suspect hardware take the HDD out of 1 Server and Boot it in
another -
take just 5 mins to find out if your OS installation is OK)
and.... No activation or re-activation necessary.
Cool, Cool, Cool Feature
I'd love that Feature in MS SBS - really really cool feature
On bended knees - Please MS ???
