Client Lose Printer Settings

Have searched newgroup but can't find a solution.
Basically i set the server with shared dot-matrix printer setup with tractor
feed and letter paper fanfold, as well as some lasers. I set all the default
trays as "tray 2" (ie the one with paper in not the manual insert location".
Then i assign applications etc to the computer via "server management" and
next login to the machine everything gets installed.
When i then check printer settings they appear to be fine so i leave with
the user and they get on with it.
Next day the dot-matrix settings have changed back to A4 manual insert,
which obviously screws up the clients printing sales orders/invoices and
statements - so major issue.
Couple of the guys are aware enough to check the printer settings before
they print documents and thus change to what it needs to be. However back in
the days of SBS4.5 and Win98se, we just setup the printer and they were 100%
consistant !
I read on the newsgroup that maybe it is to do with Client Setup re-setting
up the printers each login - is this possible ?
help
.
