fax errors - repairing the fax service after sbs2003 sp1

hello,
after installing sp1 we have many problems with the fax service. sometimes
it stops sending faxes. sometimes it works again after stopping and starting
the fax service. before installing sp1 everything works fine.
there are some telefone-service-errors ("stops unexspectedly") in the
errorlog. The Fax Service stops with ID 32079 (error prepairing the fax).
I found the instruction to reinstall the fax-services. (rename the
registry-keys and the folder for the fax service). But i fear to uninstall
and install fax (via sbs-setup) because it asks for the (unpatched) cd. Will
this merge old files with the sp1-files? Is my server stable after that?
Does anyone know, if the reinstalling will work after sp1?
