Hello,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!
I understand that when you were about to finish configuring the Backup
Wizard (Server Management\Standard Management\Backup\Configure Backup) on
SBS 2K3 server, you got an error message. If I have misunderstood your
issue, please let me know.
Due to lack of information for research, I need your help to gather the
following error logs for research:
1. On the server, run "eventvwr" (without quotation marks), check whether
there is any error, if yes, double click it, click the Copy button and
paste the full content to the Newsgroup. Also, please capture a screen shot
to the Newsgroup for us to better understand your issue.
2. I need to know what exact data information you chose to backup, is it
the data on Exchange server?
3. Have you installed any updates on your SBS 2K3 server, like SBS 2K3 SP1?
4. Reinstall Backup and see whether it works. To do so, please see:
a. On the serve, run "regedit" (without quotation marks), rename
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\smallbusinessserver\backup and
%systemroot%\Program Files\Microsoft Small Business Server\Backup.
b. Go to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Change or Remove
Programs, select Windows Small Business Server 2003. Click Change/Remove.
Run SBS integrated setup.
c. Proceed to the Component Selection page. Select action Reinstall for
Server Tools. Select None for Intranet, Monitoring, Networking,
Administration, and Client Deployment.
d. Reboot the server when prompted.
e. Test the issue again.
Please take your time to collect these error logs. If the files size is
large, please zip them into a compressed file and send it to my mailbox. I
am appreciated your time and cooperation, and looking forward to hearing
from you!
Best regards,
Brandy Nee
