Garrett,
Once SBS Setup is complete, there is a TODO list presented. The tasks on the
list must be completed in the order presented. One of the tasks is to
complete the 'Connect to the Internet' task.
This runs a wizard otherwise known as Configure Email and Internet
Connection Wizard, or CEICW for short. One of the many configurations made
by this wizard is to the Exchange recipient policy, which generates email
addresses for users. When you only have the .local addressed being
generated, this indicates that the recipient policy isn't configured with a
public email domain. Running the wizard is the best way to correct this.
Additionally, users should be created with the Add User Wizard, and
computers should be added with the Add Computer Wizard. The wizards complete
complex configuration tasks that you would otherwise only be able to
complete with very detailed knowledge of the many integration points SBS
enables in the various server applications.
To find the TODO list, open Server Managment and click on the To Do List
link.
