companyweb requests fails

Hi,

after I had installed sbs sp1 (and the wss sp1), it is not possible anaymore
to connect to the company's inetrnal website.
The response I get from the server is:

Request failed
Troubleshoot issues with windows sharepoint services

In the event log I notice the event

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Windows SharePoint Services 2.0
Event Category: Devices
Event ID: 1000
Date: 28/07/2005
Time: 8:57:12
User: N/A
Computer: SV001
Description:
Request failed.

But also at startup of the server, I have an error saying that wss cannot
connect to the config database, though this db is running:

Description:
#50070: Unable to connect to the database STS_Config on SV001\SharePoint.

I cannot figure it out what the cause of this would be.
