What DHCP problem?
Ensure that the task items have a username/password that log in appropriately?
Otherwise the best advice is to get the entire Service pack on.

Yes, it was only the 2003 service pack I installed - I was poorly advised and didn't do my own research :-( (I have learnt my lesson and repented thoroughly)
I can't reinstall the service pack until the weekend, in case the SBS addon bit doesn't fix the DHCP problem and I have half the network unable to log on again.
Can you suggest anything I can do to get scheduled tasks active again? I'm mainly freaking out because the shadow copies are not being created.

When you say you installed SP1... I'm assuming you mean just Windows 2003 sp1 and not the full SBS 2003 sp1 as you can't uninstall SBS sp1.

Since that time the scheduled tasks have all failed to run with the error "Could not start" and the error code 0x1. Some will not run if I manually run them, others (like a few simple batches) will.
It has to be related somehow to SP1 because the scheduled events were working perfectly until then. Would any hotfixes have been removed when I uninstalled the SP?
