Tyan makes the Thunder K8WE
(http://www.tyan.com/products/html/thunderk8we.html) which is getting good
reviews. It's designed to be more of a workstation/CAD board though, since
it has 2 x16 slots. However, it is dual cpu, dual core Opteron, has 2 gigE
lanes, and an onboard SATA2 controller. Oh, and it has 4 DDR400 slots
dedicated to each processor. I think you could make a pretty high
performance system of this, even though you're wasting the x16 slots. I
guess later you could alway re-purpose it as a workstation.
