Hi JD,

Welcome to our SBS newsgroup.

Issue description:

=============

>From your description, I understand that you encountered some problem in
sending emails.

Analyzing and suggestion:

==============

Before we go any further, can I assume that you used a mailbox that host on
ISP and you want to send internet emails through it via SBS server.

Generally speaking, SBS will give each user an Exchange mailbox you add
user via "Add user wizard". Also SBS will sending emails via Exchange
server using DNS routing methods or via ISP smart host. You can configure
this via CEICW wizard. If you use pop3 mailbox host on ISP, SBS can use
POP3 connector to receive internet emails. As I know, if you want to send
emails via SBS using POP3 mailbox, you need to configure the outlook on the
client side to set the pop3 account. The SMTP authentication methods should
be set on outlook side; there are no configurations about pop3 account on
Exchange server side. You need to contact with your ISP that host your pop3
mailbox to check the detailed authentication methods, at your convenience,
I would like to give you the place to set the authentication on outlook:

1. Open outlook 2003 on clients side.
2. The Outgoing Server tab is new for Outlook. The Test Account Settings
button sets all required fields on this tab. o The My server requires
authentication check box: Click to select this check box to turn this
setting on, and to select the type of log on authentication your server
requires.
3. The Log on using Secure Password Authentication check box. Click to
select this check box only if your ISP instructs you to. Very few providers
use this setting.
4. The Log onto incoming mail server before sending mail check box. Many
ISPs require that you receive messages first. It implies that you are an
authenticated user, and are not using the ISP to send unwanted commercial
messages (SPAM) to unsuspecting recipients.
