Configuring Full Text Search FOr SharePoint Web

I have my SharePoint Web data stored in SQL and want to be able to take
advantage of "Full Text Search". I have full text search enabled in the
SharePoint web but am not sure if the instance of SQL that my SharePoint web
data resides had the Search tool installed. I can see Full Text Search under
Support Tools in another instance but not in my SharePoint instance. Does it
have to be installed in he SharePoint instance too? When I do a search there
is nothing returned and there are .doc and .xls files in the DB.

If the search tool needs to be installed on the SharePoint instance of SQL
will having SQL 2000 SP4 installed mess things up? I also have SP1 installed
on the server.
