I have used the 5033 and 5 year warranty SATA drives and have been very
happy with the build. I would put it on par with any of the Intel certified
server cage combo's and probably rate it higher when it comes to ease of
install. I have been building servers for at least 10 years and have been an
Intel only builder for about as long however SuperMicro seems to make a very
solid unit and support seemed to be very good although I have not had a
system down event yet and hopefully never do just to test it out. As far as
SATA drives go I have no issues withusing them in a hardware raid system as
long as that system is either being aimed at the small office enviroment
(users go home, not a 24x7 shop) or it is just a giant file server. SCSI is
still king in my book for 24x7 hard hitting action especially when running
things like databases with lots of reads and writes.
