Hi Jerry,
Success!
Sincere thanks for your assistance with this.
I'll run through what happened in case anyone else is following the
thread who has encountered this problem.
I tried to reinastall Help and Support.
My SP1 files are located in c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386 which I
entered as the source location.
Was prompted to supply the file loaction for HCAppRes.dll, this file
can't be found in the above folder, so I cancelled the reinstall.
Ran SFC /scannow , no problems.
Checked for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\helpsvc
and found it was missing.
Exported the key from a working sbs2003 server (non sp1) and imported
it to this server.
Rebooted the server, checked the services and found the previously
missing 'Help and Support' service was now listed and running.
Tested Help and Support and all is fine again.
Even better news is it seems the problem that led me to update to SP1
hasn't reoccured since application :-) (event ID: 8331)
Happy Days!
Thanks&Regards
Roy
