A few days ago, I restored a Backup of the WMI rep.
see 28 June 2005 13:50
This didn't solve anything.

1)

Rolled Back driver for:

HP DDS4 drive

Driver Date: 01/10/2002
Diver Version: 5.2.3790.0

was update with Microsoft June updates to 2003 version

Based on next entry in "wmiprov.log"

(Fri Jun 24 13:28:00 2005.166927703) :
***************************************
(Fri Jun 24 13:28:00 2005.166927703) : Could not get pointer to binary
resource for file:

2)

run--dcomcnfg-- click on compmnent services--- my computer
Right click my computer.. properties... default COM security--- click on
the edit default button in launch permissions---
Then add network service and give it full access...

3)

Removed:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfDisk\Performance]
"Disable Performance Counters"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfNet\Performance]
"Disable Performance Counters"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfOS\Performance]
"Disable Performance Counters"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PerfProc\Performance]
"Disable Performance Counters"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler\Performance]
"Disable Performance Counters"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TapiSrv\Performance]
"Disable Performance Counters"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Performance]
"Disable Performance Counters"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WINS\Performance]
"Disable Performance Counters"=dword:00000001

4)

Open Server Management -> Select "Monitoring and Reporting" node
-> select "Set Up Monitoring Reports and Alerts" -> in wizard Click Next ->
Select "Reinstall monitoring features" -> continue through the rest of the
wizard.

Result:
Monitoring and Reporting: OK
ISM: OK
Health Monitor: OK

Questions
1) What did the trick?
2) What about the patches?
3) What about step 2) (NETWORK SERVICE)?? Safety?
