Issues after installing ISA 2004 SP1

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hello,

We have a couple of clients who have Windows server 2003 premium servers
installed.

Recently i have installed SP1 for SBS and all other updates according to the
microsoft how to install. The only thing i waited with was SQL SP4 and ISA
2004 because i was waiting for some confirmation on SQL SP4 from one software
vendor. This week i got the message that SP4 was supported on SQL 2000 so we
went ahead with the SP4 for SQL and the ISA 2004 update.

After installing the ISA 2004 update according to the install notes the
following issues where encoutered at 2 customer locations.

* Windows XP Clients SP1 or SP2 take 15 minutes to log in Windows 2000 no
problems

* When logged in Outlook cannot find the server on the XP machines and on
Terminal servers running Windows server 2003 SP 1

* Access to file shares is extremely slow and gives errors that files cannot
be found.

* SQL Server was accessible but with errors executing statements.

These issues where encoutered at 2 different customers servers.

* At one of the client locations there are 5 VPN connections by an
independent SDSL line from other locations that they have offices. These
clients at these locations could nog login, not work but nor could they
browse to computers on their same subnet.

I am wondering why these errors occur and if anyone possibly has a solution
or clue as to why they occur.

The Internet connection wizard in SBS ran without errors after installing
ISA 2004.

I have solved the problems now by reinstalling ISA 2000 with all updates and
recreating all the rules. Everything is fine for now but the customer and
myself are wondering why this could occur.

Any help or insight is welcome,

Arp Hiemtra
