RE: Admin / Domain Admin rights problem



Hi Andy,

Thanks for posting here.

For your description, I understand that the Administrator account have not
permission to access "HKLM" keys. If I am off base, please don't hesitate
to let me know.

The issue may be caused by some software installation breaks the registry
settings. Please follow the steps below to troubleshooting the issue

1 Open Registry Editor, locate HKLM, right-click it and click Permissions.

Please follow the steps to open Registry Editor:

a. Click Start, and then click Run.

b. Type REGEDT32, and then click OK to open a command prompt.

2. Click Advanced button, in Owner Tab, add Administrators group as HKLM
owner.

3. Click Permissions Tab to ensure the Administrators group has Full
Control permission and make sure check box of Allow Inheritable permissions
from the parent to propagate this object and all child object¡­.

Try it again, how about the results?

If the issue persists, please help me collect some information to isolate
the issue.

1. Is there any error message and can you give me?

2. Have you installed Visio Studio or other third-party software?
