I hoping someone can help me on this as my customer needs his email RSN.
I setup an SBS Premium (2 nics) domain with the internal name of
userdom.lan (actual name is different, just protecting my client). Assume
69.226.xx.xx as our public Internet address.
Their web site is hosted externally with the name userdom.com at a
70.xxx.xxx.xxx address. The hosting
company maintains DNS with www.userdom.com as the web address.
I want my customer to recieve email at userdom.com and I want to use remote
access to the server at 69.226.xx.xx
Can I make the public name for 69.226.xx.xx be mail.userdom.com and have
all email for my customer at
userdom.com come to this address?
What DNS entries do I need the hosting company to make? My Guess:
A record: mail.userdom.com IN A 69.226.xx.xx
MX record: userdom.com IN MX 10 mail.userdom.com
What should I specify as the email domain name in the CIECW wizard?
TIA,
Axel
