Another Domain Controller Found Shutdown - Separate domains

Hi

We have been receiving the event viewer messages (as well as the shutdowns)
due to more than one SBS (domain controller) machine being present on the
domain, even though this is not the case.

Our configuration consists of two domains (x.local and y.local). Each domain
has a domain controller running SBS 2003. The FSMO roles for each domain
specify their respective domain controllers. The two domains are separated by
a network switch. We recevied a few messages on the dc of x.local, but no
shutdowns. On the dc of y.local, we have received many messages and several
shutdowns.

The IPaddresses of the two controllers are both identical apart from the
last octet. Another factor that may be important is that the dc of y.local is
using the dc of x.local as it's DNS server.

I have noted that another posting mentions the limitation of SBS that
multiple domains are not permitted on the network - but is this not two
separate networks? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
