RE: Remote Web Workplace Printing with Multifunction

You're on the right track. It's always hard to decribe a problem like this so
it makes sense to others. I am trying to install printers for two users, but
not on the server. I am in the office physically in front of the users' XP
machines. (Two different machines that belong to two users who each have a
different model of multifunction printer at home.) I'm trying to install
printer drivers so the users can print to their home printer when they use
remote desktop/RWW to connect to their office machines. At their XP machine,
I go into Printers and Faxes, go to File > Server Properties > Drivers > Add.
A wizard pops up and normally I can add the appropriate driver with no
problem. After I do this, the users' home printer is available for the user
to print to remotely when they connect through remote desktop/RWW.

Responses to your suggestions:

1. The drivers are compatible with XP. The users have XP at home and are
using the same printer drivers there that I am trying to install in the
office.

2. Good suggestion. The type of port could be an issue when trying to print,
but that still doesn't explain why I can't add the printer and/or driver. No
port is assigned when you are just adding drivers. I will have one of the
users try changing the port of their home printer from a DOT4 port to an LPT
port and see what happens.

3. The "Enable documents on the remote computer to be printed on a local
printer" is selected by default under Optional Settings when users connect to
our RWW site, so that is already covered.

It would be great if HP could offer just the printer driver for cases like
this instead of just the multifunction "foolproof" wizard which installs all
or nothing.

Thanks for your suggestions.
