Remote Web Workplace Printing with Multifunction

Printing locally at home using RWW works fine for my users who have plain old
printers but I am having a problem getting it to work for my users who have a
multifunction printer at home. (Current problem multifunctions are an HP PSC
1210 and an HP PSC 2170.) The problem is that when I try to add their printer
driver to their PC in the office through server properties on their XP
machine (the way I usually do), I am unable to do so. I've gone through each
and every directory related to that particular multifunction machine and
chosen each item that looks like a driver, but each time, nothing appears in
the printer list so it doesn't let me complete the wizard. I'm assuming this
is because the drivers for the scanner, etc. are bundled with the printer
drivers so it doesn't recognize the printer itself. The installations were
attempted using the correct driver installation packages dowloaded from HP
(and in one case I had the user bring in their driver CD from home). I
started by trying to install the multifunction using the executable from HP.
Since the printer is not physically here in the office the os can't detect
it. Even if I select the checkbox to install the printer without connecting
it first, the installation appears to run, but when it's done the printeris
not installed and I still can't manually add the driver to the list. Is
there a way to identify/separate the printer driver from the rest of the
multifunction drivers or fool the machine so it thinks the printer is
installed? Am I missing something obvious?
