Recommend first...
Did you add your machine to your SBS network using the SBS wizards?
If not, do that.
If you did, verify computer is listed in the ADU&C.
Next,
Recommend inspect your network name resolution.
If you have WINS installed, I recommend disabling at least during
troubleshooting (should not be required for LAN name resolution).
>From any problem experiencing problems in your LAN,
- Verify a DHCP lease has been assigned (inspect on your SBServer and logon
locally to the workstation, then do an IPCONFIG /ALL). Your workstation
should be assigned a valid IP address and DNS settings pointing to your SBS.
- From your Workstation, ping your Server by the IP address (verifies basic
network connectivity) and then by the unqualified domain name (Servername
only, no Domain). Verify you are returning the LAN IP address of the Server,
not the WAN.
If all return proper results or if a specific step fails and you can't
figure out how to resolve it, post back.
Although others might disagree with me, I generally discourage posting
IPCONFIGS for security reasons, but if there is no alternative the bottom
line is getting fixed.
Also, I'm going to guess that your basic network functionality is fine if
you have TCP/IP only installed on your network (no other network protocols),
your problem is a higher level problem, either computer or user membership in
the AD or resolving the identify of your DC.
