Hello Douglas,
Thank you for posting back.
>From your description, I understand that you use VPN to connect to the SBS
2K3, but you cannot find the server. If I have misunderstood your issue,
please let me know.
Please see my following information:
1. Regarding your floppy disk. I need to know how you created these three
floppy disks. Are they created by Created Remote Connection Disk Wizard? If
no, please describe how you created? If yes, there should be two files
inside the disk: setup.exe and sbspackage.exe. They contain all of the
necessary settings to configure the remote computer.
You just need to insert the disk into the client computer and run
"a:/setup" (without quotation marks) to connect this computer to the
server.
2. For your new issue which is using the VPN connection but cannot see the
server, actually, this is computer browser service issue. Please help me
perform the following test:
a) Can you ping your server FQDN, Netbios and IP address? Also try typing
\\servername to test whether you can browse to the server.
b) After you set up VPN, wait for a while, can you browse to the server. If
you cannot, type "nbtstat -RR" (without quotation marks, and RR must be in
capital letters) in command window, then browse to the server again, see
whether this issue will disappear.
Since this issue is not the same as our original problem, to keep this
thread clean, please open another thread to continue the troubleshooting if
the above suggestions cannot solve the problem.
Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards,
Brandy Nee
