RE: CEICW Fails at Firewall

Hi Fieldy,

Thanks for you update.

>From the netdiag output, we are a little confused.

1. We found that your system information is "System info : Windows 2000
Server (Build 3790)".

What is your server OS currently? Is it SBS 2003?

If so, your system info should be "Windows 2003 Server ". If your Server is
installed SBS 2000, you need update to SBS 2003 first before you apply the
SBS 2003 SP1.

You can refer to the following link to get detail information:
Upgrade Small Business Server 2000:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sbs/2003/plan/gsg/chptr3b.mspx

2. We found that the "Local Area Connection 3" has a public IP address
which is supposed to be your external NIC. However we found the "Server
Local Area Connection" NIC has a default gateway 172.16.0.1 specified. So
we'd like to what is the IP 172.16.0.1?

3. What is your network topology? For example,

Clients <-> (Internal NIC) SBS Server (External NIC) <-> Internet

Anyway, this should be a network configuration issue. If your Network
Topology is like the above diagram, the correct configurations should be:

Adapter : Local Area Connection 3

IP Address . . . . . . . . : 69.177.xx.157
Subnet Mask. . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.248
Default Gateway. . . . . . :
Dns Servers. . . . . . . . : 172.16.1.37

Adapter : Server Local Area Connection

Dhcp Enabled . . . . . . . : No
IP Address . . . . . . . . : 172.16.1.37
Subnet Mask. . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway. . . . . . : No
Primary WINS Server. . . . : 172.16.1.37
Dns Servers. . . . . . . . : 172.16.1.37

The following KB can be a good reference to configure SBS 2003 for Internet
access:

825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763

Additional I suggest that you rename your adapter name to distinguish which
one is external adapter and which is internal adapter.

4. After configure the correct IP address, please rerun CEICW to configure
internet connection.

*Note: please choose correct Connection Type

Try to access those build-in sites, how about the result? Is the issue
persists?

If the issue persists, please help me collect the icwlog and netdiag log
again. And please send me the log file or the compressed (zipped) file at:
v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I appreciate you time and effort and I am looking forward for you.

Have a nice day!

Best Regards,
