RE: Server side account lockout

Hello Peter,

Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.

>From your description in the post, I understand that your issue is some of
your clients cannot log on to the SBS 2K3 Network from their personal
computer at some time, but they can use roaming profiles and log on the
other workstations to logon the SBS 2K3 network. If I have misunderstood
your issue, please let me know.

Before we go any further, I need to gather some information to isolate
whether it is a client side or SBS 2K3 side issue.

1. Does this issue only happen to certain clients or randomly happen to any
clients?

2. Do your clients always use roaming profiles whenever the issue occurs or
not? I would suggest that create a user profile and test whether the issue
will happen again. When a new user logs on Windows 2000/XP, it will create
a new profile for the new from the Default user profile which is stored in
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User. Helpful information can be found at:

319974 How to create a custom default user profile
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=319974

3. What is the exactly error message when the client cannot log on to the
network? Please paste the full content of the message to the Newsgroup.

4. Run "eventvwr" on the server and problematic workstaitons, go to the
Event Viewer, can you find any error there? If yes, please double click the
error, click the Copy button and paste the full content to the Newsgroup
for further research.

5. Also, run "gpresult /v > C:\result.txt" (without quotation marks) on a
problematic client computer's command window and send the result.txt file
to the Newsgroup. We can check if there are special policies applied to the
computers. If the file size is too large, you can compress it into a .zip
file or copy the file separately.

I am appreciated your time and cooperation. If anything unclear, please let
me know. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Brandy Nee
