Hello Dave,
Thank you for your update.
To narrow down the issue, please try to perform the following steps,
re-create a new testing user and computer to verify this issue.
To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the Domain
Admins security group.
>From the server:
- Create a user account
1. Open Server Management.
2. In the console tree, click Users.
3. In the details pane, click Add a User.
4. Follow the steps in the Add User Wizard to create a user account.
- Locate the Windows Small Business Server domain name
1. Click Start, and then click Server Management.
2. In the console tree, double-click Advanced Management.
3. In the details pane, click Active Directory Users and Computers, and
then right-click the name of the computer running Windows Small Business
Server?2003.
4. Click Properties. The domain name is located in the Domain name
(pre-Windows?2000) box.
>From the client computer:
- Install and configure TCP/IP
1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then click
Network.
2. On the Configuration tab, click Add. The Select Network Component Type
dialog box appears.
3. Click Protocol, and then click Add.
4. Under Manufacturers, click Microsoft.
5. Under Network Protocols, click TCP/IP, and then click OK.
- Configure DHCP
1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then click
Network.
2. On the Configuration tab, click TCP/IP, and then click Properties.
3. On the IP Address tab, click Obtain an IP address automatically, and
then click OK.
4. Restart your computer.
Note: Client computers should not be configured with static WINS, DNS, or
default gateway settings unless a pre-existing network requires it.
- Install and configure Client for Microsoft Networks
1. Click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel, and then click
Network.
2. Click Client for Microsoft Networks, and then click Properties.
3. Select Log on to Windows NT domain.
4. In the Windows NT domain box, specify the name of your Windows Small
Business Server domain.
- Configure additional settings
1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then
double-click Network.
2. On the Access Control tab, click Share Level Access Control.
3. On the Identification tab, change the computer name if necessary, and
change the Workgroup field to match the name of the Windows Small Business
Server domain that the client computer is joining.
4. Click the Configuration tab. In the Primary Network Logon box, select
Client for Microsoft Networks.
5. Click Client for Microsoft Networks, and then click Properties. Make
sure Log on to Windows NT domain is selected.
6. Under Windows NT domain, type the name of the Windows Small Business
Server domain that you are joining, and then click OK. You might be
prompted to insert installation disks.
7. Restart the computer.
After you finish the above steps, please try again, can the issue be
re-produced?
Otherwise, since this issue is persists though we already tried most
troubleshoot solution. It is recommended that you contact CSS support,
since there could have more interactive troubleshoot process with Microsoft
Support professional and even have remote assistance. Due to support nature
of public newsgroup, it is not convenient to be done here. Tanks for your
understanding.
