I had a client on a tight budget and I got the REV to work fine with
the windows backup software.
The only downside is that you cant use the Iomega software, since it
does not run as a service. The Iomega software is the only way to get
the full capacity with compression. So, I am stuck with only 35GB
uncompressed but that is fine.
I have my client setup to use 2 daily tapes and a monthly. The backup
job copies everything to the G drive (REV). I then have a batch file
run in the morning which copies this to a previous folder on the Rev
drive. Another batch file combines all the logs into one, which I have
sent to me through the server monitoring and reporting in SBS2003.
The nice thing is since each backup is only a few GB I am able to store
two copies on every disk...the current day...the the previous days in
the "previous" folder. Same thing for the monthly disk..it holds two
copies.
I can send you the batch files and more info if you want.
It's been flawless for months.
