Promote from User to Power User?
Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance
I've upgraded a NT domain to SBS2k3 following the Migrating from SBS 4.5
& NT white paper. I was able to transfer all of the accounts, but when
it asked which template to use, I picked User instead of Power User.
Afterwards I discovered that Quickbooks requires that domain users must
be members of the Power Users or Administrators group.
What's the best way to change the primary user type? I've tried changing
the accounts in question to the Domain Power Users group and restarting
the net login service, but Quickbooks is still complaining. (I know I
can create a new user using the Power User template, but I'm assuming
this would screw up the permissions on the XP client machine. There are
many files on this computer, painfully transferred from the old NT
domain, that the user needs access to.)
What am I missing?
Btw, I just picked up Windows 2003 Server Inside Out. It's heavy. I
haven't come across the answer to the above question as of yet, so if
anyone out there can help out an SBS n00b I'd be eternally grateful.
