Hello Steve,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
I understand after you installed SBS 2K3 SP1, your OWA cannot work again,
and you have an error "ASP 0178 : 80070005". If I have misunderstood your
issue, please let me know.
Please try my steps below:
1. Check which file is wrongly registered and located.
a) On the server, search the file "scrrun.dll" (without quotation marks),
check how many .dll files?
b) The file should be located in c:\Windows\System32.
c) Unregistered the incorrect file and path. To do so, type the following
command in order to unregister the .dll file.
Regsvr32 "file root.dll" -u (without quotation marks)
For example:
Regsvr32 C:\document and settings\administrator\windows\scrrun.dll -u
d) Register the correct file and path of c:\Windows\System32. To do so,
type the following command in order to register the .dll file.
Regsvr32 "file root.dll" (without quotation marks)
For example:
Regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\scrrun.dll
e) Stop and Start the Website.
f) Test again whether the OWA works now.
g) If the issue persists, please perform step 2.
2. We need to use FileMon and RegMon to capture a log and check whether
there is a file or registry problem.
Please go to the following web sites to download and run Filemon and Regmon
tools.
Filemon for Windows
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/filemon.shtml
Regmon for Windows
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/regmon.shtml
[Note]: It will be better for analysis to capture the Filemon and Regmon
logs in Safe Mode with Network.
Let's perform these steps to collect the necessary information:
1. Start FileMon to monitor the file system events.
2. Reproduce the problem.
3. Stop FileMon and save the log to a file named filemon.log.
4. Start RegMon to monitor the registry events.
5. Reproduce the problem.
6. Stop RegMon and save the log to a file named regmon.log.
7. Please compress all the logs files above and send them to
v-branee@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hope the information helps. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,
Brandy Nee
