Re: OMG! ISA2004 is SO different! Need help

Torrey IMHO I'd still go forward. I'll remote to the office later today and see how you'd do an all/all/all and ask around. To build a rule it pretty wizardy so it's not bad.

Can you hang on until I get back to you?

Dave,

I inserted the CD, click on Install ISA2004 from the splash screen, and followed the onscreen instructions. I did not see any export settings. Did I miss it? Can I uninstall ISA2004, re-install ISA2000, re-do my settings, and then re-install ISA2004, this time using the export and import feature?

I'll try installing the ISA firewall client from ISA2004 right now to see if it changes anything, but I have a feeling that it won't since I can get to the internet through IE.

Torrey,

Curious, did you install ISA 2004 via the link on the splash screen (from the autorun) of the SBS 2003 SP1 cd #3? It should have exported your ISA 2000 settings (applicable to ISA 2004) and then re-imported them during the setup.. If you installed ISA manually, then there is a button you'd need to have click to have it export the settings so that it could re-import them. Also, by installing ISA using the SBS method it would have launched SBS's CEICW to configure the networking.. Also, it would have installed MSDE SP4 to ISA's MSFW instance.

As Susan mentioned you might want to install the ISA firewall client on your client machines as well.

Okay, I received the SP1 Premium Edition CDs in the mail yesterday. I had
already did the download of SP1 Standard, installed it, and it was running.

I installed the only component that I wasn't able to install from the
download, ISA2004.

This is where I started to say OMG. ISA2004 looks NOTHING like ISA2000.
First, none of my settings from the previous ISA2000 was in ISA2004, and that
is where I am right now. I need to setup some packet filters, some
protocols, and a site and content rule.

None of the terminology in ISA2004 is even close to ISA2000 except for
Protocol, but the setup of the Protocol is even different.

I could not even access this NG through OE because it couldn't reach the NG
server. In addition to that, my ISA firewall client on my PC periodically
states it cannnot find the ISA Server even though I still have access to the
internet and to the server. I haven't seen that happen on any of the other
PCs here today.

I also cannot get the Instant Messengers I use to work through the firewall
either.

So, I need any help that anyone can provide on how to use ISA2004. Is there
a simple translation matrix (ie: to setup a site and content rule, use "x"
wizard, etc?)?

Thanks!
