Exchange Help?

Hello,
Probably a "new to this" kind of error that I need help with if I may?
Basically, I have set up an SBS 2003 standard server.
Connected clients to said server, setup email, etc. but for some reason -
Something I am doing, or not doing, orrrr something is stopping mail from
being sent out of the exchange server.
The emails queue, and then get bounced back saying they have failed to be
sent - taking too long.
(I can see email's in the queues through Exchange System Manager -
SmallBusiness SMTP connector).
I am not quite sure what I have done to set this up wrong, but initially,
everything was working fine, then I had to reboot the server, and it's all
stopped - And I don't know what has changed (I had to reboot thanks to a CCTV
app crashing rather than anything applied).
The email appears to be sending just fine internally.
I am not sure what I need to help tell you to help you out - but - the setup
is currently -
ADSL broadband connection via a Netgear DG834 router -
6 client machines - retrieving their email via POP3 from the machines,
rather than the Exchange server (currently) - but the store is on the
Exchange and the sending is from the exchange.
Is this an indication that I have set up the connection wizard wrong?
Or do I need to set up the DNS forwarders that I saw mentioned in the 70-282
exam??
And last but not least - could it be something to do with the ISP DNS?
(Using BT Connect as an ADSL provider).
What tests can I run to try and get things moving again? I can't seem to
work the Internet Mail Wizard as I get an error about not being the beachhead
server?
Bit lost!!
And please, let me know if there is anything else you want me to clarify, or
check, or do, or or or !!
Cheers
Jules
