I understand that you want to know whether your configuration is security.
If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
Actually, your configuration is relatively safe since there is no absolute
secure network. You are running in a support and Microsoft recommend
scenario. As Alexandre said, you need to secure your client's password and
password policies. For using VPN, it is very difficult for others to use
VPN without user account.
If you have ISA installed, it should be better. The following document is
