Mr. Yang,
Thanks for such a detailed reply, however it doesn't seem to address the
facts that I noted in my question.
First it does seem to be a server related issue and it is SBS 2003 specific
as no settings get transferref by Windows 2003 Server. I also mention that
I have done this before successfully. that is transfer cookie from one
computer to another using
the IE Import and Export commands. This is a very easy way to transfer
cookies and favorites
"When I go to a new computer I can import them and they are usable."
I also menioned "While most things where transferred OK,( Favorites, desktop
, etc, even OE
and Outlook settings/files - except for my passwords.)"
(this was surprising to me as I went through this just a few months ago
with W2003 Enterprise Server and I had to use your procedure). SBS 2003
seems to
have something in one of the wizards that does a better job than your
procedure which I am familiar with and have used before.
The better thing it does is it does not create a new Documents and Settings
subdirectory for the domain. which makes it unnecesary to worry about the
folder \D&S\local settings (all Outlook and Outlook Express data and most
settings are there) WHICH DOES NOT GET MOVED BY YOUR PROCEDURE.
So even though SBS 2003 copied my cookes they didn't work in terms of
remembering passwords, I imported them again (from IE) and they still didn't
work.
Maybe this is an issue of SBS changing Internet Explorerer settugs to make
my cookies less useful? Or perhaps this is related to auto complete rather
than .
After further investigatin I find that this is probably related to
auto-complete, but still particiular to SBS2003 (as IE settings should be
transferrred when you join the domain).

(I was not sure the original mesage would be posted to since I changed the
subhect, tBelow is the original message)
I maintain networks for several customers and now I have my own problem.
I have installed an SBS 2003 Server at my home and connected my
personal computer to it as a domain member.
While most things where transferred OK,( Favorites, desktop , etc, even OE
and Outlook settings/files - except for my passwords.)
But Even after Importing my old cookies into IE6 they don't seem to work. I
have about 50 user names/pws associated with various customers equipment and
I don't want to have to look them up all the time. Using cookies set by the
password processors in IE has worked nicely before. When I go to a new
computer I can import them and they are usable.
Is there something different about joining a domain that invalidates them?
and is there any programmable way to fix them?
