Hi Rob,
Thank you for posting SBS newsgroup.
I have read the post very carefully, from your description, do you mean
that you cannot ping the NetBIOS name of the Win2K3 and you cannot access
the shared folder on Win2K3? If so, would you please to help me to confirm
some information?
1. Can you use \\<ip address> and \\<fqdn> to access the shared folder on
Win2K3?
2. Please run "ipconfig /registerdns" on the Win2K3, run "ipconfig
/flushdns" on the laptop and then perform the test to see if the issue
occurs.
Thanks for your time and I will look forward to your reply.
Best regards,
Crina Li (MSFT)

| Hello, Im having a wierd problem and hoping for some ideas on how to
track it
| down and address it. I currently am running a windows SBS2003 network and
| another file server running 2003 Server (as member). The SBS server has 2
nic
| cards, the member server has 1 nic, all nic's have static IP's. On my
network
| I have 25 workstation computers. Everything is functioning fine. My
problem
| lies in VPN connection from a laptop computer running XP Sp2. I can
connect
| to the SBS network fine, authenticate, etc. I can ping any address on the
| internal netwrok by name or ip address EXCEPT the windows 2003 member
server.
| I can only ping it by IP address or its FQDN (computername.domain.local).
I
| can access shares on any computer on the network, EXCEPT this member
server.
| My client laptop is set to recieve IP/DNS addressing from the SBS2003
server.
| Ive disabled firewalls with no change in this behavior. The only thing
that
| is different from this machine, vs the others on the network, is it has a
| static IP address and running MS 2003 server. ANyone have any ideas?
