Hi Bill,
Thanks for using this newsgroup.
According to your description, it seems you encountered a problem that the
IP address and the computer name is not match.
Generally speaking, If you receive the correct response when you use the
ping command with an IP address but an incorrect response when you use ping
with the host name or NetBIOS name, there is a name resolution problem. It
might be caused by the DNS misconfiguration, the problematic clients might
have multiple records in the DNS server in order to make the issue more
clear, could you perform the tests below:
1. Does this issue happen to all the client computer or only to one client
computer?
2. If you run the IPconfig/all at that problematic clients what is the
results?
3. Could you check to see if there are any error events in the event view?
4. Please also make sure that the DNS server on the internal client is
point to the internal NIC of the SBS 2003.
5. Please also check your DNS setting, you might input the wrong host name
for the IP address or input many host name for one IP address.you can refer
to the following link as a check for your DNS setting:

I appreciate your taking the time to perform the tests and paste the
results as your earliest convenience. If you have any further concerns,
please let me know. I am here waiting for your updates.
