Re: Win2k3 server standard in SBS2k3 domain

Thank you for your reply Chris.

This is how I thought it worked.

The reason I ask is that my employer has asked my opinion on a proposal by
an IT company to upgrade a couple of servers in an organization that he is
President of.

Apparently these servers were very BADLY managed by a previous vendor and
charged a LOT of money to to manage them badley. The new company that was
brought in to evaluate the network has recommended upgrading the Server OS
on both servers -Which I think are running SBS2K- but I'm not 100% certain
about that.

Anyway, the new company has recommended that BOTH servers be upgrade to
SBS2K3 premium. This seems very odd to me and VERY expensive - in addition
to the fact that there cannot be two domain controlers in an SBS doman.

In my network, we have a SBS2k3 server and a Win2k3 standard server, which
is how I beleive this other organization shoud be set up.

Can anyone give me a reason why upgrading the current server OS's to SBS2k3
Premium on BOTH servers is a reasonable approach - is there something about
upgrade pricing that makes this a better advantage over just upgrading one
server to SBS2K3 and the other to Win Server2k3 standard?
