Re: Site to Site networking

Hi Charles,
I haven't had the time to try the windows site-to-site VPN, but so far I've
established gateway-to-gateway VPN using my firewall appliances. The speed
is not practical at all. Users of the new remote office will have mapped
drives (mapped to shared folders on our current site). It takes a few
seconds to open word files. So in my opinion we will need to have a server
in the new location and then somehow combine the data of both sites
together. How can we do that? Can you please recommend me a solution with
what we have and a solution if we upgrade? In the ideal world, the entire
network of both sites should appear as one.
Another problem I found was when using VPN, I am unable to access servers by
names (only by IP address)... I tried pointing the DNS of the remote
appliance to the Windows 2003 SBS, but still wasn't successful.
Another question related to VPNs in general... do both networks have to be
on different subnets? I mean can't they both be 192.168.168.* for example?
Thanks for your help
